Leadership Committee and Board of Directors

Description: The Leadership Committee consists of the Arizona Trauma Association (AzTA) officers, board members and other invested parties. It is responsible for managing the property and administrative affairs of AzTA.

Board of Directors

Description: The Board of Directors consists of a representatives from each of the participating trauma centers in the State of Arizona. They are responsible for maintaining the mission, values and vision of the Arizona Trauma Association. The Chairman of the Board is the President of AzTA and is typically a non-voting member.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the mission, values and vision of the Arizona Trauma Association.
  • Develop methods to support the collaborative trauma and acute care research, education and outreach activities of the trauma centers in the State of Arizona.
  • When applicable remove any Officer or the Executive Committee or representative of the Board of Directors who fails to perform the duties of their respective office or position or is found to be unfit for such office or position.
  • Nominate and elect the Officers of the Executive Committee.

  • Provides for the administrative affairs of AzTA.

Southwest Trauma and Acute Care Symposium (STACS) Committee

Description: The Education Committee was created at the first official meeting of the Board of Directors and is tasked with developing methods to support the collaborative education activities of the trauma centers in the State of Arizona as well as running the Southwest Trauma and Acute Care Symposium (STACS) each year.

Tackle Trauma 5k Walk/Run

Description: The Tackle Trauma 5k Fundraising Committee was established in November, 2014 at the Board of Directors meeting. Alicia Mangram, MD proposed this fun and exciting event to coincide with the NFL’s Game Day on the first Sunday each February to raise awareness and funds for trauma and injury prevention in the state of Arizona. Funds raised are used to develop injury prevention awareness and develop trauma research activities.

Research Committee

Description: The Research Committee was created at the first official meeting of the Board of Directors and is tasked with developing methods to support the collaborative research activities of the trauma centers in the State of Arizona.

Injury Prevention and Education

Description: The Injury Prevention and Education Committee was created at the first official meeting of the Board of Directors and is tasked with developing public service injury prevention and outreach activities to reduce traumatic injuries. AzTA will also assist and provide continuing education programs to further improve the delivery of healthcare for the severely injured patient in Arizona.
