Please read carefully! This is an opportunity for posters and video presentation in front of the Symposium audience.

Welcome to the Daniel M. Caruso Academic Session at STACS 2026! We’re thrilled to present this opportunity for researchers and practitioners to showcase their work through the Resident/Fellow and Best Practice Competitions.

Who Can Submit? Whether you’re a seasoned researcher, a resident in training, or a practitioner with innovative best practices, we invite you to submit your abstract for consideration. Please note that the Resident/Fellow Competition is exclusively for Physicians (MDs/DOs) currently in training (residency, fellowship).

Clarification for Arizona Surgical Residents/Fellows: Please be aware that the Arizona Chapter of the ACS Resident/Fellow Competition is separate from this event. However, residents and fellows are welcome to submit ACS Competition Papers for consideration in the STACS Resident/Fellow Competition.

What Must Be Submitted? Accepted abstracts will be showcased on our conference website as a .pdf and a 5-minute pre-recorded podium (video) presentation. Your initial submission should include an abstract (up to 300 words) and a poster as a .pdf. If your submission is accepted, you’ll be asked to submit the video presentation to our virtual host at least one week prior to the conference.

Additional Information:

• Abstract acceptance notifications will be sent to the Corresponding Author listed on the submission.
• You may submit more than one abstract.
• Please ensure your abstract contains original work. While previously presented work is acceptable, submissions of previously published work in journals will not be considered.
• The presenting author must complete a financial disclosure for CME purposes.
• If using PowerPoint, please limit your .pdf to <10 slides.
• Accepted abstract authors must register for STACS; however, there will be no registration fee for presenters.
